Submitting design to mold fabricator
Hi,
I have a new plastic part designed by a junior designer. I'm not familiar with the doc requirements of plastic injection mold fabricators.
A few questions:
Should I contract with an experienced designer to review the design, or should I rely on the fabricator to provide a good review?
Is the fabrication fully reliant on the 3D cad files (.eprt, .slddrw, .sldprt, .step), or is the 2D .pdf critical to the process?
How long does it take to fully review/critique a plastic part design (1" diameter, non-trivial shape, straight pull)?
Thank you,
Dave

Re: Submitting design to mold fabricator
Hi Dave,
3D is needed for mold fabrication, but it's ok if you have no 3D, the supplier will make 3D for you checking
