    Yield in Injection molded part

Is there a tipping point for feed system weight ratio to the part weight. What is the good ratio of runner weight to part weight? When would one declare the part is micro molded part ? In the micro molded parts, one can makes 3 component in one pellet, but if you compare the runner weights of such part it may be 200% higher than the part weight.

Is there any reference for part weight to runner weight?

    Hello,
There is no such rule. You can go to any ratio as the part and mold design may need. Also definitions for mico and nano are not clearly defined. 'Small' parts less than I would say 0.250" would be in the micro ranges. Machine manufactures sell micro molding machines but you could parts that wieigh even about 6-7 grams in there and so not truly micro.
    Hope this helps some.

    Suhas
