    Mold Viscosity

    Hi

I am relatively new to the "Mould Qualification" subject. I was going through the Mould validation/Qualification process wherein we have Mould Viscosity test. Which says we need to find the right Fill time so that the plastic achieves the right shear rate/viscosity for the easy flow. what if we still go on reducing the fill time, will it impact the other moulding paramters on the machine or Mold or component? Do we have "the fill time" ?

    thanks for your help.

    Re: Mold Viscosity

    Hi Mandar,
Yes, it will impact the other parameters since the material temperature and viscosity will change. The viscosity study is a very good study, but do not get 'stuck' with it. Inject as fast as you NEED and not what the curve shows you. Sometimes going by the curve will not give you good results - as in case of insert molding or cosmetic components.
