    Vent Sizes

When choosing vent sizes for your molds, what is the best resource? Do you rely on on the data sheets or do you go by experience?

data sheets and handbooks are a great start as rule of thumb, but this is when expertise becomes really important.

The manufacturer's recommendation is a good place to start, but it is only arelative number. This number will give you a feel for how this material reactsin comparison to others. To find the right number you need to take a morescientific approach which considers part geometry and location of gate.

Theory never fails...Thousands of Engineer conducted the study on the vent depth recommendation before release into the market.

Then why it fails???? Example PC/ABS C6600 the vent depth recommended was 0.036 ~ 0.075mm.
If the Mold plate and inserts was perfectly matched then the vent depth specified by the manufacturers could be worked
    Otherwise the flashing extends......
It depends on Mold maker [ since the parting was already opened by 0.05mm then surely the flash exists on the vent area]
Better One of the point on the product need to be tried as per specification and see how, the point should be END-FILL
There is a chance to control and also no additional pressure further to push the melt.....
