Purging of clear PC for weekends or at shut down
What is your purging process at the end of a run or weekend shut down for clear PC to avoid black specs?

Leave the barrel full of PC, drop the heats to about 350°F across the barrel and leave the press that way until start up. Just remember to start the press as soon as the cold screw prevention goes off.

Rick beat me to it. I worked at a plant that molded miniture optics for fiberoptic couplers and connectors. This is how we did it. Keep the "bank temp" just above the Tg of the material so that the material will not shrink away from the barrel wall.
