    mold condition grading system

We are currently in the process of trying to make a type of grading system to track the condition of our molding tools. This will be a visual inspection done by the person doing the pm's on the molds, my question to all of you is what types of things would you recommend looking for?

I would like to add that I find this forum very interesting and helpful.

    Thank you

We usually start by keeping track of the number of shots the mold has run, as well as the dimensions of the parts over time. If your dimensions change over (let's say) 500k pieces, then you know the mold either is at the end of it's life depending on mold class, or it will need some repairs. Generally, the parts will be the deciding factor on the quality or condition of the mold, second would be any visual cues.

I like the above response, also consider galling, vent depths, and use last shots to identify/measure flash or other areas of concern.
