Re: Pe and pet resin screw

Best to use the GP screw sent in the press as the OEM spent numerous hours designing and testing the design. Plus you are flexible in what resins and work you can do in the future. Only use special...

Re: European voltage machine in US?

The motor and controller should be checked to confirm that they will run 60 hertz. While the pump should spin faster at the new hertz, the controller power supply might run too low or high on the...

    Re: Waviness/Ripple on Part

I agree the mold is too cold and the melt too high. What’s the MF of the resin? Might be too low for flow length of parts.

  4. Re: Mucel causing zones in barrel to rise in temp far above set point.

Is this press a new one with the proper systems for MuCell or an afterthought retrofit? Without the exception I gut screw, counter pressure on the screw and proper non return valve; you will live...

    Re: High Hot runner temps.

With that much glass filler a standard hot runner will wear out very quickly due to abrasiveness of the fibers. I’d make sure the screw reaches shot size and then stops decompression about 2-3...

    Re: Material Stock Temperature

You can make a piece to go into the hopper out of sheet metal and cut the hopper volume down to reduce time in the hopper. I’ve done this many times over the years.
Now you may be seeing this due...

Re: Blush or Graying at molded part edges

Looks like a wall thickness change reading through. I think you’ll have to adjust wall thickness change on underside to fix the issue.
BTW how much draft is on the part? Little draft could create a...

Re: Ultem and CF Peek in an aluminum mold

How about making gate a fan style so you can get enough area to stay open during the entire pack/hold phase? Have you ran a gate freeze to see how long it stays open? Are you gated into the thickest...

Could be LLPE. I’ve ran that in Mouse spouts before.

Re: Ultem and CF Peek in an aluminum mold

How are you heating the tool? Can you get it hotter? Perhaps the runner is freezing too soon hence the sinks or voids. Can you injection compression the parts? Maybe that would work.

    Re: Recovery Issues at Start-Up

Have you confirmed all is correct inside injection unit? Maybe wear or pellets stuck to the screw after shutting down. How do you shut these machines down and for how long? Run them completely empty...

Re: Ultem and CF Peek in an aluminum mold

    Nikom,
We have looked at it for SEVERAL molds. But to convince a company to try something new is ALWAYS a stretch. There’s a place in NC reasonably close to us that we want to use. Our thoughts were...

Re: Ultem and CF Peek in an aluminum mold

I’ve found it easiest to place heaters in the mold base and use a mold heat controller to get the mold hot enough. Place rod heaters with thermocouples in the mold to get it hit enough. Also add an...

Re: Soft Cap , need advice

The straw caps I’ve ran in with past were molded of PE and gated into the large end. Mold had stripper plate for ejection and ran pretty fast cycle times. You had to watch process as you could mold...

    Re: Kawaguchi K 480 B settings

Have you checked the screw and barrel for wear? Had a JSW in a shop that ran slow cycles due to worn out screw.

  18. Re: Switching on machine pressure versus Stroke

Worn barrels and inconsistent NRV functions tend to drive the decision to pressure transfer. Multiple cavities with cold slug or drool issues tend to end up at hydraulic pressure transfer. Years ago...

    Re: Fines in Material, BlackSpecs

Try a dust remover from Matsui designed for regrind. BTW what is your shut down and start up procedures? That might also be a root cause. There are resins for medical molding that are much cleaner...

I’m not really getting a good feel for defect from the pictures you put up. Can you add some more and then perhaps the root cause will be clearer.

    Re: Hot runner cleanİng

There are several great purging compounds available but my favorites are PDQ from Slide, Asaclean, and Dynapurge. Though on the last two you need to use the card correct grade for the resin.
