I am old enough to remember when gasoline went above $1 USD per gallon. The majority of the gas pumps at the time only had two digits available for price so, for a time, gasoline pumps were switched...

I would love to go to all metric in the US! Just need to convince several hundred million other people first.
Old post resurrected, but funny story....
Saw this once, long ago. 300 lb hopper filled with ABS.
Unfortunately the temperature controller was in C so when someone mistakenly set it at 150...
Hi All,
Been running up against some people who like to require three different lots of resin to do a part qualification. Early in my career I spent some time at a medical molder and they used...
Sad to hear you moved on from a long-term employment. Never fun.
New to stack molds and first work with this supplier so mainly just a mention not necessarily a recommendation.
StackTeck up in...
Have you done a 'gate' freeze study? May be that the process is freezing off at the nozzle/mold touch point limiting the length of time you can effectively pack the part out.
Second on the comparator
Has the part run in the press running two cavities before without the problem? or is this something you are just trying to get started?
Maybe the barrel is still too small for what you are doing,...
Thanks all, sounds like there is no easy way to get what I want to happen on a Toshiba. I am used to having a start up reject counter to ignore the first couple shots. A little saddened to hear...
Hi all,
I have told a molder I work with to start using process alarms on my parts. They have set up monitor alarms with max rejects=3 without a problem. I want them to use an injection timer...
If it does contain reprocessed resin there is likely contamination with another polymer. I worked for a short time at a bag maker in the repro department reclaiming scrap plastic and film scrap into...
Worked at a not very impressive molder for a short while that tried a switch to electrics. Ran into a ton of problems with ejecting parts. Most of their parts hung up on the ejector pins and an...
Is the mold valve gated or a hot tip?
Roctool offers an induction heating technology that also incorporates cooling for this type of use. I have never used it but it could be a good option for what you are looking to accomplish.

Working in a new position I have started to process on Toshiba presses. I was surprised to find out that they use an injection timer setting that functions as a screw forward timer (hold time =...
99.99995% have used rpm :<(
Nice to see it on ptonline! Sharing this knowledge is great, but it is making dedicated readers of this forum less valuable :<)
When I look at resin process information I assume a 25 mm screw and a 13:1 intensification ratio.
You also need to have the equipment and procedures in place to have the resin ready to go when the setup is complete.
Yes, more material remaining in the barrel after a blocked cavity is what pjhall is referring to.
Is there a pattern to the high/low injection pressure days? Possibly by shift, weather, or any...
I'd recommend using a different screw or different press with a higher compression screw in it. The extra high reverse profile will likely work when the press is running, but beware of the Rice...
Do you know what the compression ratio of the screw in the press is? A lower compression screw could have a difficult time melting 6,6 nylon pellets completely.
Worked a couple years with Rutil vertical rubber injection machines that were from Italy as well.
My favorite press was a small, old Newbury. Ejection was done by a bar mounted onto the back...
Has anyone seen a variation in raw material density (lot to lot) that would affect tracking part weight? I can see where a filled resin could vary because of fluctuations in the filler content...
Roto-molding possibly?
