    Re: Modified gantry crane

I have used the moving gantry cranes as well. Better than trying to do it with a forklift, but storage issues and moving them around can be a pain in a tight shop. Usually fairly cheap.

    Re: Modified gantry crane

Have you looked at just doing an overhead crane? I have used Gorbel cranes at a lot of places. Basically an erector set crane that bolts to the floor. Their website is gorbel.com. I don't think your...

    Re: Nissei Press Training

There are a lot of guys who train on site for processing. They may be able to teach stuff about the controllers, but my suggestion would be to get the manufacturer to come in and teach it or fly...
  4. Re: Pack and Hold: Van Dorn pathfinder control

I think half the battle in molding is just figuring out each manufacturers quirks, terms, and where that flipping screen is you need!
  5. Re: Documentation Process for trials/validation of a new mold

I know the feeling....been there, done that, and got the T-shirt. Only thing I can say is try and knock out the highest runners/problem childs first. If you can run some tests and make the part run...

    Re: Fines in Material, BlackSpecs

You are welcome. It has been awhile and I forgot we used these at ATK. They are from Conair. They worked OK, but not sure how they would work with your system. We had a large conveying system with...
  7. Re: WANTED a Trustworthy mold maker in Taiwan / Indian or recommendation

He flew back in late last night. I sent him a text this morning to make sure he looks for your email.
  8. Re: WANTED a Trustworthy mold maker in Taiwan / Indian or recommendation

I know he was changing his website and it shows the website is now "parked" so maybe that is holding it up. You can shoot me an email (ian@yomura.us) and I will pass it on to him or email him at...
  9. Re: WANTED a Trustworthy mold maker in Taiwan / Indian or recommendation

He is on vacation in England till Thursday. I am not sure how much email coverage he has over there so he may take a little bit to answer back.
  10. Re: WANTED a Trustworthy mold maker in Taiwan / Indian or recommendation

Reach out to my dad at david@connxsource.com. He reps for several mold shops in Taiwan.
  11. Re: Where to find alternate replacement parts for Niigata injection press

I tossed that part number in Google and got some returns for what look like they may be close to the right part.
  12. Re: Documentation Process for trials/validation of a new mold

Usually I do all the standard stuff: Viscosity curve, shot to shot repeatability, cavity balance, gate freeze, cosmetic window study, cooling time study, and a DOE if needed. I also check the water...

    Re: Fines in Material, BlackSpecs

Matsui has a loader that sucks out a good chunk of the fines. I know there are other systems that do that as well. Ok not sure I have a good answer, but here are some things that you may have looked...

    Re: Thin wall IML defects

I am not sure from the pictures exactly what the defect is you are having, but looks like a burn mark on the edge? If that is correct could it be that the vents on the mold are getting plugged? Do...
  15. Re: accuracy test technique

Sorry, I don't have anything written. Usually just have a tech from the machine manufacturer come out and do calibrations or walk me through it (for calibrating sensors or transducers for example)....
  16. Re: accuracy test technique

I do believe they are different per machine. Also what are you calibrating (load sensors, platen parrellism, etc)

Re: Cushion Changes with Pack Time

Yep, being compressible if it reaches the gate freeze at that lower time only wasting energy running a longer hold and possibly inducing some thermal degradation in the material by compressing it....

Re: Cushion Changes with Pack Time

I don't usually run high cavitation, but 1.5 seconds is a pretty fast gate freeze so my guess is that you have not reached gate freeze and therefore you are able to push more plastic into the...
  19. Re: star automation sprue picker connector pin layout

I see, I misunderstood the question. Thought you were trying to rewire the machine itself to SPI standards. I have no clue on the Star pin out. I have used them before, but they were already wired...
  20. Re: star automation sprue picker connector pin layout

You can always look on the internet. Here is the first one that popped up. Also there are several different Euromap/SPI standards. So just make sure what your robot is using and search for that one....

Re: Knockout tie-in on JSW electric

    Gassincowboy,

On some of the smaller Arburgs we got used to using either just a center tie in or unbolting the butterfly plate and sliding it forward to get the bars on it. Wanted to try and use...

Re: Machine mfrs with service ppl in FL?

I have had pretty good luck with Arburgs and most Engels. I have not had good luck with Sumitomos. Decent machines (controller has some quirks), but service was horrible. As an example it took 6...

    Re: Cavities blockage

When you are saying they get "blocked" what are they getting blocked with? That would help with troubleshooting.

    Re: Thermolator question

Thanks guys, knew someone on here would know something!

    Thermolator question

I saw something back in the 2000s at Sabic's facility where they were running hot water during injection and then switching to cold water when injection was over. The idea was to get the cosmetics...
