Re: Help: Acrylic Black Specks and Pitting

Have you looked at the defect under magnification to see if it's a void or something foreign?
Any chance dust could be getting into the tool while it's open and molding around it
    What about ejector...

    Re: Injection Molding BMC queries

Well, you did good with the KM. They and Arburg are about the only suppliers still supporting BMC.
Check out BMCI, they are now a division of A. Shulman.
As you know, the material cannot be...

    Re: Injection Molding BMC queries

    Hello D,
I have molded millions of lbs of BMC. If you're team has thermoset knowledge, then that is good. Otherwise, I'd recommend you out source it.
Who will be your material supplier. Depending...
  5. Re: Autojector HS-30 not turning screw fast enough

Sounds like a lack of pressure or a bad screw motor. If there wasn't enough volume, it would never rotate fast.
Under a load, there's insufficient pressure/torque to maintain the speed. My 2 cents.
  6. Re: Newbury 100 (H6-100MT) Controller Software issues

I was curious if you got your press re-controlled.
  7. Re: Newbury 100 (H6-100MT) Controller Software issues

I have not personally, but I have a pal that does. He owns RSW Technologies, is located in Ohio and specializes in inj molders.
Just about any plc will do so long it has enough I/O's as well as...
  8. Re: Newbury 100 (H6-100MT) Controller Software issues

There are several companies that do plc conversions for molding presses. I have done several, but only on my own equipment.
    Where are you located?

    Re: Recovery Issues at Start-Up

Since the problem is only at startup, maybe the barrel heats are not "soaked"
Instead of trying to purge for that 30 minutes, try just waiting.

    Re: Fines in Material, BlackSpecs

Pelletron also makes several sizes for removal of fines, dust and streamers. Some can be mounted at feed throat.

Re: New Technology For Injection Molding

Along the micro molding path is the relatively new Spiral Logic screw system. No compression on screw and starve fed. Say they can meter it down to one pellet.
    Pretty cool.

Re: Line mark on the surface of product

Could it be from color concentrate?
Maybe try 100% regrind to see if it changes.

Re: Support for Moving side of Mold

I have seen devices affixed to side of tools using the tie bar as a support.
    Common on with stack molds.
    Looks like bronze material
  15. Re: General operation of Arburg Allrounder 170 CMD 145-50

Was also going to mention that the cost of the service tech might surprise you. It depends on where they are in relation to your shop.
Travel time is usually a big part of the cost.
    Since your...
  16. Re: General operation of Arburg Allrounder 170 CMD 145-50

I think that the robot interface would only inhibit mold movements. The only exception would have been the emergency stop (robot interface) and that would prevent motor starting.
    If you have a...
  17. Re: General operation of Arburg Allrounder 170 CMD 145-50

I didn't see where you checked pump motor rotation.
I'm not Arburg literate, but doubt a press that old wouldn't move in manual if the pump is making pressure and the safety gates are closed.

Re: Rubber Matt has Hazy Areas

Can you stage clamp pressure during injection? Start out low and ramp it up?
If not, maybe try reducing clamp pressure.
You might also try slow inj speed at beginning and speed it up near end of...

Re: Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing

I saw a printer in the Sodick booth at this years NPE printing H-13 cores and cavities with cooling passages printed in. Not cheap, but pretty cool

    Importing used equipment

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but have been in molding since the 80s.
Was wondering if anyone here has ever purchased used presses from a dealer in Korea and had equipment shipped to U.S.
    If so, any...
