Just curious as to what kind of variation I can expect in the MFR of a certain resin. The MFR is supposed to be 70. I do my own tests and I am seeing the MFR go from 50 to over 100 is this normal...

Rick,
Can you elaborate on these tonnage plates? I'm not sure I've seen these before.
a little over a year ago I've taken a new job at a company that runs all aluminium tools. This still being fairly new to me I have a couple questions. I have a new(ish) tool that is starting to wash...
Yes the mold is valve gated and we are cascade filling it to keep the flow path as short as possible.
I am familiar with deiseling and I did consider that. the problem I have is in the past we have fixed the issue by switching lots of resin.
Rick,
The parts have multiple gates and they do have a long flow length. Can you explain the inconstant advancement of the flow front more? I'm not sure I understand but it sounds like you may be on...
Chris,
It doesn't seem to get worse. Thanks for commenting..
JayDub,
Thanks for the comment. To answer your questions, yes the glossy surface creates a pattern throughout the part that is identical shot to shot. Cleaning the tool does not change it at all.

I'm having issues with an inconsistent surface finish on these large TPE parts. I apologize ahead of time that I cannot share too much information on this because we are in a very competitive...
Thanks Brent,
I've been thinking about it and am starting to feel lik the amount of work that will be needed to put a preventive maintenance plan in place and actually keep up with it would be...
So I'm a small part molder that just took a job working with larger machines around 1600 tons. In the small world screw and barrel maintenance was much easier. We could use bore mic's for the barrels...
You hit the nail on the head. Its faster, and cheaper to build tools using aluminium. Running 1,000,000 cycles is never the plan however customer increases have given us the opportunity to test these...
Thanks guys this is all useful information. I would love to fill you in on our tools but I would probably get fired if I did, however I can tell you that we use aluminum for all of our tools and we...
I'm looking for advice on aluminium molds. Specifically what type of aluminium is best for making molds and what type of issues can I expect if I decide to build aluminium molds?
I am looking for advice on calculating clamp force. I have tried some cool phone apps, and online calculators but they all ask for information I cant seem to find. FIMM TECH has a really nice app...
I'm looking for suggestions on large press side granulators. We currently do not grind our scrap at the machine and I can see a huge benefit if we started to do so. We run large normally flat TPE...
Sounds like you're running a new battenfeld micromolder. Those machines are different than others because they utilize a different style if injection unit. I believe your question can only be...
Thanks for the response Rick,
Our parts have very wide dimensional tolerances but they have tight visual restraints. As I said we mold pretty much only TPE and the material is actually made in...
Does anybody track part weights? I was recently tasked with lowering part weights for our products. We mold almost exclusively TPE and seem to have trouble keeping our part weights in control. I have...
