Suhas is correct, your going to have to fill the mold and generate low cavity pressure while doing so.
Maybe downsizing the gate is a possibility?

Make sure no one's changed the back pressure setting to zero, that would allow the screw to rotate backwards without pushing material forward.

A good check for alignment is to take some transfer paper and place it between the nozzle and the sprue bushing, then run the nozzle forward against the bushing, and then retract the sled and remove...
I just wanted to give an update for those who have been helping me with this project. We are successfully encapsulating our diodes and circuit board.
It did take a material change to get it done,...
Can you elaborate as to what maintenance was done to the machine?
Oh yea Brent,
We had a three plate mold with a foot and half long runner feeding two cavities we had to sweep. Thankfully this tool was later redesigned as a valve gated hot runner.

Rick,
I actually have that design guide. We did send the mold back and got rid of the sub gate and went to a tab gate. We ran some more parts and put them in thermal cycling and still had...
Thanks for the quick reply Rick. And you are correct, the tool right now does have square corners and sharp edges along the surface where the cracking is occurring.
The tool is going back to the...
Sorry for taking so long to update this project. We did settle on acetal for the encapsulation material and we've had some success encapsulation the one by two inch circuit board with diodes.
Now...
I've used it to blow stubborn runners loose on three plate molds as well.

With enough back pressure the melt should fill the front of the barrel completely, preventing any air from entering. decompression should also be kept to a minimum.
If your drooling during sprue...
Hi Brent,
End use is automotive, mounted in cabin. That's really all I can say at the moment.

We should have the info Monday on exactly what type of diodes they would like encapsulated.

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable material to encapsulate some diodes on a circuit board? These are not glass diodes by the way.
Thanks

This is the first I've heard about using new bolts. I gotta admit I've always reused the same endcap bolts. The only problems I've ever ran into when installing the endcap is leakage, and this is has...
