Have the same issue with two of my Sumitomos, popped a fuse on a heater, replaced the fuse, now the heaters have no limit. They just blow right past the set temp and keep going. Thermocouple seems perfectly fine, what could it be?

A: Solid State Relay
I had the same issue just a few days ago, and I tested the resistance in my thermocouple, seemed fine, but I replaced it anyways, problem solved.
it could be the SSR is broken or its signal from controller always on try to swap SSR with anther heater
Hi! I dont know how it goes on sumitomo, but at krauss maffei we have to optimise heaters. Machine does that by herself, you just have to run this optimisation and then she measure power and resistance, comsumption,... And then its fine. I think that you have something similar.
We had someone wire all the heater bands together on a Sumitomo and so it overheated one of the heater bands when the other two heater bands died.
