I am having issues with screw recovery on our JSW machines and nylon. The screw seems to struggle to get back every shot and going up on the rear zones of the barrel help but do not resolve the issue. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

Hello,
1. Do you see that issue only with Nylon?
2. What is the back pressure?
3. On the JSW there is (or at least there was) a high torque and low torque setting. Have you tried using both and seeing if that makes a difference?
Let us know.

Greetings;
I would add: is your Nylon dry? When you purge, is the material coming out of the nozzle popping and hissing?
What are your temperatures set at?
Two possible scenarios:
• Screw not plasticating
• Screw plasticating normally, material drooling just as fast
In the first case, consider:
• Material not feeding (bridging in the throat due to poor temperature control)
• Excessive wear in the screw and/or barrel
In the second case, consider:
• Back pressure too high
• Nozzle temperature too high
• Unsuitable nozzle tip design
