bubbles and intenal voids
hi every one, jus a quick questions thus any one know how to make apart bubbles from internal voids there is a technique that will help me to make apart this to very similar look alike defects in molding pars, the part that I am molding have thick walls and I am getting several defects like bubbles or voids is a clear part and material is polysulfone
Re: bubbles and intenals voiids
I have done this before but it could require precise temperature control.
Take the part and put it in an oven or subject it very gently with a flame torch to higher temps. Do not put the flame directly on the part. Look at the size of the defect. If the defect collapses, it is a void. If the defect increases in size, it is air.
This is a little tricky. If you do it, please post some pictures (with permission of your company). We would all love to see them.
Thanks,
Suhas

That is a very witty tip, Suhas! Thanks.

hi Suhas,
I will try this technique and I will let you know what I get, thanks

Another thing that might give you some insight is to run a fill progression. If you are trapping air in the cavity, the fill progression can indicate where you need to improve venting.
