Hello all,

I'm looking for informations about this material. It seems to be some kind of composite material, the core should be in expanded PP, no idea on how the surface is built.
Mostly it seems to be used for chair production, as an alternative to the most common injection moulding technologies.

Do you have any information about ? it's very difficult to find process informations on the internet...

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for you help. I found this:

https://www.google.it/patents/US6423254?dq=Elma+Chemicals+S.r.l.&hl=it&sa=X&ei=TT60UpCWDMSu7Ablt4DwCQ&ved=0CIUBEOgBMAg

that seems to be the patent for this technology.

As I understand, it seems that the material is in effect a composite material; the 2 materials are injected in the tool at the same time, and the exothermic reaction of the outer material provides the expansion of the inner core.
The different fluidity provides instead the fact that one material tents to go against the surface of the tool, while the other material generates the core of the part.

Is my undestanding correct ?? what do you think ?
